I am the CEO of Business Finders Canada (BFC) a professional Business and Commercial Real Estate Brokerage that specializes in the sale of businesses and commercial property. I opened the doors of Business Finders Canada in 2009.

Nelson Bayford has a passion for business.

His 35-plus years of experience includes real estate, financial services, business brokerage and franchising, both as an owner and advisor. Nelson started his career in real estate in Alberta. Nelson is a graduate of the Canadian Securities Institute (C.S.C). He has structured and promoted several joint ventures and private equity placements in Canada and internationally.

Rob Denier has worked for more than 30 years in the construction and real estate development industries. His areas of expertise include community economic planning and development, organizational and business planning, negotiating, strategic planning and community resource development.

Rob is an entrepreneur/business advisor who believes that fundamentals are the keys to success in business and in life. Starting with a foundation of core values and principles, Rob is grounded in a sense of integrity and a desire to inspire and motivate others to achieve their potential.

Rob lives in Kamloops, B.C., and has done consulting with First Nations communities undertaking the restructure of economic development entities. This process entails working with government agencies, development organizations and private businesses.

Rob attended Capilano University studying business before completing a Real estate and mortgage broker’s licence through the UBC faculty of business and has completed an MBA program.

David Thomas, BA, Dealmaker

David Thomas, BA, Dealmaker

David Thomas is a real estate professional with 35 years of experience helping owners and tenants achieve their needs and long-term goals. He has helped many landlords take their property to its highest and best use, helping with rezoning, financing and design to become profitable ventures and community landmarks. He has also helped many companies create an ideal office or retail space that allowed their business to flourish.

David earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brock University and began his career in the advertising industry with CJRN radio in Niagara Falls, then moving to Vancouver to work at CFUN Radio.

He joined Royal Lepage Commercial Real Estate downtown Vancouver as an office leasing and sales agent, earning the position of associate vice-president in 1989. David represented various landlords in downtown Vancouver including CN Pension Fund for Pender Place at 700 and 750 West Pender, London Life Insurance for 800 West Hastings. David’s career expanded with a contract with Lonsdale Quay Development Corporation and BC Rail for the leasing and sales of development sites on the North Vancouver Waterfront and with Ontario Teachers Plan for Capilano Business Park.

David Started Westreal Realty Specializing in commercial sales, leasing and land development in North and West Vancouver and later expanded the business to include a residential division and project management team. Westreal was successful in many major projects including the Silva, 700 Marine, Ambleside Place, and the sale of several investment properties and major lease transactions. Westreal Realty merged with Sotheby’s International Realty and David remained as associate broker specializing in the sale of residential development sites.

David moved to Kelowna in 2015 to seek sunshine and golf. He is a member of Harvest Golf Club and The Mission Tennis Club.

Chris Yong has 26 years of working experience in the property and development industry.

She spent 20 years of her career as a successful property negotiator in Asia. She is conversant in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay. Chris has also started learning Korean.

She brings with her a strong clientele base which she hopes will continue to propel the property and development industry forward in the Okanagan Valley.

Having settled here for six years, Chris sees immense potential in various growth sectors of the property industry that is dormant and remains largely untapped. It is this sector that she targets and hopes to open new vistas of opportunities for the Okanagan.

Michael Wintemute has been licensed for over 30 years and has sold and managed in the real estate industry. Working both in Vancouver and Whistler before moving to Kelowna he has negotiated land assemblies, supervised project marketing, consolidated strata buildings and negotiated the sale of businesses. He has served as a director and chairman of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, professional conduct committee of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, director and chairman of a seniors housing and long term care operation and been involved in minor hockey and softball.

Michael has also been interviewed in major newspapers and publications, on television and has been asked to speak at real estate seminars.

Stephen brings to Business Finders an entrepreneurial background dealing with, owning and working in small business. Having been exposed to the dynamics of his family’s business at a young age, Stephen’s interest and passion for entrepreneurship is deeply rooted and is what led him to facilitating the business succession process.

Born and raised in Ontario, Stephen moved to Kelowna in 2017. He holds a master’s degree in management, innovation and entrepreneurship from Queen’s University and a bachelor of management from Dalhousie University. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, trail riding and exploring the Okanagan.

Honesty and integrity are two qualities that define who Stephen is personally and professionally. When building relationships, trust and competence are paramount and is what drives him to continually improve.

Deepa brings over 15 years of experience to Business Finders Canada, from owning small businesses to working in multi-national companies. She was raised in a family full of entrepreneurs and this exposure helped her understand both opportunities and challenges in operating a business. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering from India. She immigrated with her family to Canada in 2011, and since then has owned and managed small businesses including a retail franchise store and successfully invested in Real Estate.

Deepa understands the challenges Seller’s face in listing their business and wants to provide realistic facts and expectations based on the market value. She uses her experience to help buyers analyze and ask key questions regarding a business purchase.

With her extensive background in analysis, finance and business operations, Deepa has the unique expertise necessary to negotiate and get deals done. Communication is the key factor with clients and she understands the time sensitivity of a transaction. She believes that a successful business transaction is finding the right parties for a win-win situation.

Incredibly, this wasn’t the first time for Marshall. Early in his career, he created the #1 GM truck dealership in Canada—in a northern town of only 3,400 individuals—as well as earned the distinction of the #1 volume Dodge dealership in B.C. for nine years.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant, Todd brings over 30 years of experience working with owner managed businesses. Todd has been a partner in a National Accounting firm, as well as running his own practice with over 13 staff.

Todd has been a deal maker for his own business and for that of his clients. Todd has facilitated deals in excess of $70 million and as little as $20,000. It is not the size of the deal that matters. The outcome is the primary goal.

In addition to Todd’s private enterprise experience he has taught business for post secondary students as well as for professional bodies. Todd’s experience in deal making is both practical and theoretical.

As a CPA Todd understands entrepreneurial business inside and out. Todd has run a family owned enterprise and is trained as a Canadian Association of Family Enterprise Facilitator.

His direct experience with real estate developers and builders, franchise owners, manufacturers, retailors, and service providers gives him the insight to meet your needs.

Samuel McLeod

Samuel McLeod

Sam has a passion for life, growing up in a farming community where neighbors help neighbors, and respect for family was a core value. Sam started his business career at the age of nineteen, designing and constructing a large-scale Swine facility in Eastern Ontario as part of an expansion to their farm. It was the beginning of over thirty years of business ownership/management and construction related projects.

His entrepreneurial desire brought him into ownership and management of a well-established Restaurant where he built an environment of good work ethics and customer service among staff members. Sam continued with his passion for construction during those restaurant years, buying and selling properties near his Community.

In 1998, life changed dramatically for Sam and he spent the following five years raising venture capital for International companies. It was a time for developing a broader view of the world and the different cultures that are intertwined in this marketplace. His outward look would see him spend ten years of his life in Ecuador, South America, where he learned how to negotiate contracts within a foreign legal system along with the hurdles presented in a new language. He managed an Ecuadorian mining company and constructed an operational Flotation Plant for gold & silver extraction, which required several trips to South Africa during fabrication. Patience is required with any negotiation and the ability to understand the perceptions and personal needs of all parties concerned are paramount in reaching a successful outcome.

Sam continued building homes while living in the Amazon for two years and as well in southern Ecuador before returning to Canada in 2016. His time spent in Indigenous communities, primarily Shuar, helped greatly in Sam’s understanding of the effects colonization had on their home territory.

He loves to write and is a published author, he enjoys being with his wife Rishi and spending time in a quiet place to retain clarity in order to best serve his associates and clients in their business-related decisions.

Ava Miller

Ava Miller

Born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Ava Miller received licenses in Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, and Property Management at the prestigious UBC Sauder School of Business. After years as a Real Estate Agent for leading Vancouver real estate firms, Ava moved to Business Finders Canada where she is busy connecting buyers and sellers of Businesses and Commercial properties. In her spare time, Ava can be found teaching yoga in Vancouver’s best yoga studios, walking around the seawall with her beautiful dog, Khaleesi, and traveling to Hawaii, her second favourite place.
